THE BOSSA NOVA HOTEL
MOON ISLAND
The Bossa Nova Hotel is a musical state of mind that was created and exists in cyberspace. It is a coalition of musicians who meet and create online, coming together regardless of where they may be on the globe--Los Angeles, Tokyo, Nashville, Rio and Bali. A combination of heart, mind and talent, it's creatively inspired by the love of a vast array of popular music, re-interpreted and served up Brazilian-style. Who is in residence at that Bossa Nova Hotel today? Michael Sembello, Janey Clewer and Bruce Gaitsch. They invite you to experience "Moon Island." On December 3, 2009, Moon Island was awarded Best Engineered Pop CD in Japan by JAPRS. (Japan Association Of Professional Recording Studios)
FRAGILE (SINGLE)
With the success of the The Bossa Nova Hotel's version of "A Day In The Life Of Fool" as the theme for the Japanese TV show "LIFE", The Bossa Nova Hotel released a new single, "Fragile", written by Sting. In these crazy times, this song is beautiful reminder of just how fragile we all are. Please check it out by clicking one of the buttons below:

"Moon Island" by The Bossa Nova Hotel (2009)
Today I'm going to review one of the much valued rarities of my collection. THE BOSSA NOVA HOTEL is an exciting project that was established by "La Isla Bonita" composer Bruce Gaitsch (bass, guitar, programming), his wife Janey Clewer (vocals, keyboards, mixing) & Michael Sembello (vocals, keyboards, guitars, programming) along with executive producer & creative head Richard Rudolph. The album was recorded at The Bossa Nova Studios in Florida and Frantic Studios in Nashville for EMI Records. The realization of this special musical concept was as simple as it was effective: just taking a bunch of eclectic hits & love songs such as Earth Wind & Fire's "After The Love Is Gone", "Maniac" from the Flashdance soundtrack, Gloria Jones'/Soft Cell's "Tainted Love" or Madonna's "La Isla Bonita" and emblazing them with Brazilian bossa nova arrangements, salsa rhythms plus terrific lead and harmony vocals. The extract of most of the songs had emerged from two Japanese compilations for Pronto Cafe. Besides the above mentioned tracks the song list includes: "It's All In The Game", "A Day In The Life Of A Fool" (Manha De Carnaval)", "Lovin' You", "Let's Groove", "Feelin' Alright", "Inside My Love", "What You Won't Do For Love" & "Through A Child's Eyes" (the latter recorded for the benefit of Kid's Earth Fund). Tracking down the physical CD might be a little bit difficult but worth the effort.Especially for the quiet moments this is a perfect example of tasteful re-interpretations, outstanding musicianship & creative reinvention that blends well with a good glass of red wine. Highly recommended!
